Passengers have been thanked for their patience at the midway point of an extensive programme of East Coast Main Line improvements.

Network Rail will be carrying out vital upgrades on the line between Ipswich and Norwich on some April weekends, as well as improving three level crossings for both passengers and road users.

An important milestone in a signalling upgrade project will affect passenger services between Leeds and Knaresborough on Sunday 22 March.

Passengers travelling between Aylesbury and London via Great Missenden are being advised to plan ahead as HS2 work means changes to train services during the Easter bank holiday weekend.

Passengers travelling on trains in and out of Liverpool Lime Street station will soon have a dedicated waiting lounge to make travelling easier and more accessible.

Passengers are closer to benefitting from improved rail services, better connectivity and new stations as Network Rail submits a full business case for major railway upgrades between Cardiff Central and Severn Tunnel Junction. 

Glasgow Central high-level will partially reopen on Wednesday 18 March, allowing a return of some ScotRail and cross-border train services.

Network Rail will carry out essential track renewals, structural surveys and other work on railway lines in North Devon later this month. For a week between Saturday 21 and Sunday 29 March, train services will be affected between Exeter and Barnstaple, and on the Okehampton route, while vital maintenance is completed.
