A new and unique exhibition train will visit Scotland this October as part of a national celebration of the 200th anniversary of the modern railway called Railway 200.

Work is now complete on a £3m project to raise the platforms at Dunkeld and Birnam station, significantly improving accessibility and safety for passengers at the historic Perthshire stop.  

Part of the Far North Line will close this Sunday for three weeks to allow major upgrades to take place. 

Efforts to improve safety at Broughty Ferry level crossing are being stepped up this week, as Network Rail and British Transport Police work together to raise awareness and encourage safe behaviour from both pedestrians and drivers. 

Edinburgh Waverley is hosting a new exhibition this month celebrating projects which have transformed Britain’s historic railway sites. 

Passengers are celebrating the return of train services between East Kilbride and Glasgow, with many getting their first glimpse of the impressive new station at Hairmyres. 

Benches promoting positive mental wellbeing are being unveiled at several train stations in Scotland as part of mental health awareness week (12-18 May 2025).  

More than 20 organisations are formally joining forces to protect Scotland’s critical infrastructure from weather and climate related impacts.
