Work will soon get underway to replace the railway bridge on Letham Road in Collessie, Fife, as part of improvements on the Ladybank to Perth line. 

Construction will begin this month on a new £5.2m footbridge over the Levenmouth rail link and heritage railway between Kirkland and Mountfleurie in Fife. 

Scotland’s Railway will be closing railway lines in the west and north of the country from noon on Monday (August 4) as Storm Floris is expected to bring unseasonably strong winds of up to 90mph and heavy rain over 24 hours. An Amber Met Office warning for wind is in place across much of Scotland, with speeds forecast that are unprecedented for this time of year.

A £2.7m project to improve reliability and performance of train services in Glasgow’s southside is set to get underway this August. 

Passengers travelling by train between East Kilbride and Glasgow are now benefitting from a £7m package of access improvements, with new lifts at Giffnock station going live. 

A £5.9m project to install a new railway bridge at Bowling in West Dunbartonshire is underway as part of a major project to unlock future development of the former Exxon site. 

A major £4.5m refurbishment project is planned for the Kyle of Lochalsh railway in the Highlands this Autumn.
