WESSEX: Network Rail completes festive railway upgrades
Network Rail is thanking passengers following the completion of its festive railway upgrades across its Wessex route.
ONE MONTH TO GO: Vital engineering work near Shalford, Surrey to close North Downs Line between Guildford and Gatwick Airport
From Saturday 1 February to Sunday 16 February, buses will replace trains between Guildford and Gatwick Airport while Network Rail engineers complete a number of critical upgrades on the North Downs line for the continued safe and reliable running of the railway.
SURREY: Line between Guildford and Effingham Junction reopens following completion of emergency work to stabilise an embankment in Clandon
Train services have resumed this morning (Friday 27 December) after Network Rail engineers successfully completed emergency repairs to an embankment in Clandon between Guildford and Effingham Junction.
STARTING MONDAY: Lymington Branch Line to close for two weeks for vital pier improvements
Buses replace trains between Brockenhurst and Lymington Pier from Sunday 22 December with trains returning to service on Monday 6 January 2025
STARTING MONDAY: Vital engineering work in the Woking area to impact Main Line services over Christmas and New Year
- Key upgrade work at Brookwood, between Farnborough and Woking, will mean significantly longer journeys
- Services between Waterloo and Southampton/Weymouth will be diverted, adding 45 minutes to journeys
- There will be no direct services between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids
- Passengers encouraged to check before travelling and plan journeys in advance
SURREY: Emergency engineering works to close line between Guildford and Effingham Junction
The line between Guildford and Effingham Junction will be closed from Saturday 21 December until Thursday 26 December while Network Rail engineers undertake emergency work to stabilise an embankment in Clandon.
