A major project to upgrade overhead line equipment between London and Bedford has been successfully delivered by Network Rail – on time and under budget.

Rail passengers are being thanked for their patience after further upgrade work was delivered on the East Coast Main Line.

Some small businesses in Oxford most affected by works at Botley Road may be eligible to receive goodwill payments, following the government today (13 June 2025) confirming up to £850,000 of Network Rail funding to acknowledge the local disruption.

Two Network Rail employees have been recognised for their outstanding contributions in HM The King’s Birthday Honours list announced today. In addition, Steve Scrimshaw, who joined Network Rail as a Non-Executive Director last year, received a CBE.

Work on the line between Norwich and Ely will mean rail replacement buses on three consecutive days, including throughout Monday 7 July.
