A retired station announcer has resurrected his railway career for one more day, as part of this year’s Railway 200 celebrations. 

Network Rail is delighted to announce that Doncaster’s new railway training centre will be named The Gresley Institute – following a public vote, held in partnership with City of Doncaster Council, which attracted over 3,500 responses.

Network Rail’s four-day track replacement between Bristol and Bath is complete. On Monday (27 October) engineers began work installing new rail, sleepers and stone through St Anne’s tunnel, working around the clock and finishing the job in the early hours of this morning (Friday 31 October), as planned.

Key upgrades to improve safety and reliability are set to take place at Worcester Shrub Hill station this weekend.

Passengers are being advised to check before travelling during key railway upgrades in the Coventry area this weekend.

Filey station has welcomed visitors to the seaside town for nearly 180 years – and will continue to do so for generations to come after its £3.6million upgrade.

Buses will replace trains from Friday 31 October through the weekend between Carmarthen and Swansea as Network Rail switches the route over to new safer and more efficient digital technology

Passengers are advised that further progress with digital signalling will affect journeys over the weekend of 22 and 23 November, closing a large section of the railway south of Peterborough towards London.
