A major milestone has been reached with the installation of the accessible footbridge at the new Bristol Brabazon railway station on the former Filton Airfield site.

The first phase of Mid Cornwall Metro services began this morning, with local business leaders welcoming the significantly enhanced train service between Newquay and Par.

Train services are running normally again through Bath and Wiltshire following two weekends of upgrade work in the area, including track renewal, drainage improvements and a range of maintenance work.

One of the most-anticipated rail projects in the south west took a major step forward this morning, as contracts worth £200m were signed at Bristol Temple Meads to deliver two brand new stations and reinstate the Portishead railway line closed to passengers since 1964. 

Members of the public are invited to a drop-in event later this month to find out more about the work taking place at Tackley station in Oxfordshire which will make it fully accessible for the first time.
