• Network Rail’s Advanced Apprenticeship scheme to expand by 50 per cent in 2017

Network Rail has completed its extensions of the platforms at Martins Heron station in Berkshire, part of its £800 million Waterloo & South West Upgrade that will see new, longer trains running between Waterloo and Reading.

Residents in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire, will soon benefit from a safer railway crossing as Network Rail prepares to replace the current level crossing with a new footbridge.

Network Rail has appealed to students at Brockenhurst College to stay safe when near or using the railway, during a special safety day held at the college today (Thursday, 29 September).

Network Rail and South West Trains are today launching a campaign asking passengers to plan ahead for major changes taking place at London’s Waterloo station between 5-28 August 2017, as they continue to deliver an £800 million upgrade to the station and the railway, and the biggest investment in the London station for 80 years.

New figures from Network Rail¹ reveal that 1 in 5 survey respondents in Southampton, and over a quarter in Bournemouth, report a near miss or accident when using their mobile phone around the transport network. 

Passengers in Hampshire will soon benefit from a better and more reliable railway as Network Rail prepares to carry out a major track renewal project at Fareham.

Passengers at Godalming, Surrey, will benefit from a better, more accessible station after Network Rail officially unveiled a £4m upgrade, which was completed four weeks earlier than planned, alongside representatives from the Department for Transport; the council; a local access campaigner; Jeremy Hunt, MP for South West Surrey; and South West Trains.
