Rail industry partners came together today (Tuesday 12 December) to lay wreaths and hold a two minute's silence to remember the 35 people who lost their lives in a train crash in south west London 35 years ago.

Rail Minister Huw Merriman today celebrated the recent start of digitally signalled passenger services on a busy London commuter line. Digital signalling on Great Northern’s Northern City Line (NCL), from Finsbury Park to Moorgate in the City of London, is the first stage in the pioneering £1.4bn East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP).

A new rail service linking Castleford with York and Manchester has been launched today (Monday 11 December 2023) at an event which saw the official opening of the station’s new fully-accessible second platform. 

Creative youngsters at a primary school in Liverpool have tried their hand at designing a proposed new station on the city’s Merseyrail network.

Passengers are set to benefit from improved accessibility and a better experience at Peckham Rye with Network Rail receiving formal Planning Consent for its proposals for a complete transformation bringing the historic, listed Victorian station building into the 21st century.

Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), which operates Thameslink and Great Northern trains, have today (Monday 11 December) opened a new footbridge at Royston railway station.
