This weekend Network Rail will begin the core phase of work to change the way the railway is run in Cornwall.

Network Rail has successfully installed the main bridge span and supports connecting the two platforms at Walton-on-Thames, bringing the station closer to providing step-free access to both platforms.

Buses will replace trains between Hereford and Shrewsbury during a nine-day closure on the Marches Line between Tuesday 12 September to Thursday 21 September as teams work around the clock to renew the track and ballast inside the historic tunnel. 

Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) have successfully demonstrated that the recently installed digital signalling system on the Northern City Line, between Finsbury Park and Moorgate, is ready for passenger service. This is a significant milestone for the first phase of the East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP).

Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is reminding passengers traveling along the railway line between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds, and York to plan their journeys ahead of time, as they upgrade tracks over weekends in September and October. 

The A890 will close overnight on Sunday, September 24 as Network Rail undertakes essential maintenance at Balnacra level crossing on the Kyle of Lochalsh line.
