Passengers travelling between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone this weekend are being advised of journey changes while engineering upgrades take place.

Installing new track and sleepers will affect journeys between the East Midlands and Skegness this weekend (Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November), passengers are reminded.

Train services are once again running between Preston and Carlisle following significant disruption caused by a derailment on Monday morning. 

The West Coast Main Line is set to fully reopen later tonight after a train derailment in Shap, Cumbria, on Monday caused significant disruption. 

• South Western Railway and Network Rail are set to restore the full West of England Line timetable on Saturday 29 November
• A reduced service has operated since August due to the UK’s driest ever spring and summer, which affected track conditions from Yeovil to Exeter
• Conditions have improved and engineers are carrying out track repairs that will allow trains to travel at regular speeds

Local residents and business in Woodbridge and Melton are being reminded to continue to plan ahead as weekend level crossing closures continue for planned engineering work throughout November and early December on the East Suffolk line. 

The railway has reopened between Tunbridge Wells and Hastings, and between Bexhill-on-Sea and Hastings following the completion of a £9 million programme of essential improvement works.

Investigations are continuing following a train derailment near Shap in Cumbria early this morning.
