Passengers are being urged to check before they travel between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare, while an important railway junction is refurbished over a nine-day period later this month. 

Network Rail is thanking passengers and local residents today for their patience and understanding over the festive period while it has completed vital railway engineering work.

A project to transform transport links in mid Cornwall so that residents can better connect to employment, education and key services, has been given the green light by the Council’s cabinet.  

Rail passengers are being asked to plan ahead and check before they travel this festive period as Network Rail completes its annual planned railway upgrades.

Earlier this month the new Dawlish sea wall faced its toughest test yet as devastating wind and waves whipped the south west, withstanding both and winning two engineering awards just days later.

A long-running £5.6m project to to replace an important bridge over the railway on St Margaret’s Street in Bradford-on-Avon is into its final stages and the road will reopen on Monday 18 December. 

Those hoping for a late Christmas getaway are being advised to plan ahead as engineering work is set to impact services, with trains to and from Paddington also disrupted this Sunday (26 November). 

Network Rail has successfully completed the first major stage of work to modernise railway signals across Cornwall, with passenger train services resuming today after 13 days of round-the-clock work.
