Network Rail has issued an update to passengers following severe flooding in Northampton caused by the River Nene bursting its banks in the early hours of the morning (Monday 25 November).

Watling Bridge in Hinckley sits at number four of the list of Network Rail’s most frequently hit bridges.

Passengers travelling over the festive period are strongly urged to plan their journeys in advance as major rail upgrades mean Euston station is expected to be much busier than usual from Christmas Eve, into the New Year.

Covert crime-busting kit is being used to track down metal thieves who cause major delays to passengers and freight on the West Coast main line – Europe’s busiest mixed use railway.

The majority of the railway between London Euston and the North West of England will be open for business this August bank holiday weekend – but planned upgrade work means passengers should plan their journeys in advance.

Network Rail has reopened the London Overground and Bakerloo lines between Euston and Watford after a £2m upgrade which will mean more reliable journeys for passengers.

Bakerloo line and London Overground passengers are being advised of essential railway upgrades which will impact journeys over six days at the beginning of August.
