Southeastern and Southern passengers are being reminded to plan ahead this October half-term if travelling on the Hastings line between Tunbridge Wells and Hastings, and between Bexhill-on-Sea and Hastings.

Engineers will be strengthening a railway embankment in Hamworthy and improving drainage at the Poole sidings to help protect the railway from flooding and improve long-term reliability

In 10 days time, buses will replace trains between Guildford and Havant as Network Rail engineers complete the final stage of the Portsmouth Direct signalling upgrade between Farncombe and Petersfield.

Improvement works will run on the Island Line from 18 October to 17 November, with a mix of full and partial closures.

- Bicentenary train, Inspiration, will visit London Victoria station 18-20 December as part of its journey to 60 locations across Britain over 12 months, promoting rail innovation and careers.
- Inspiration will also visit Southampton (14-16 December)
- Co-curated with the National Railway Museum, 30,000 have already visited and 88% would recommend it to a friend
