The rail industry has launched the biggest timetable change on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) in more than a decade today (Sunday 14 December), as part of a wider set of timetable changes across the network.

Walkers, cyclists, motorists and horse riders are advised of timetable changes affecting level crossings through a Lincolnshire village.

From 22:15 on Wednesday 24 December until 05:30 on Sunday 27 December, the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) team will undertake major engineering work in Deighton whilst trains aren’t running on the network.

Motorists are being reminded to remain alert, comply with road signage and never stop on level crossings after repeated scenes of queueing traffic on the railway in Derbyshire.

Passengers are advised that drainage improvement work will affect journeys between Derby and Chesterfield this weekend (Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December).
