Network Rail is continuing to carry out a range of safety, monitoring and education work during the emergency closure of Sportsfield level crossing at Featherstone, following a sustained period of serious safety concerns.

The project to fit equipment for digital in-cab signalling to the iconic High Speed Trains (HSTs), which form a major part of Britain’s railway story, is setting new standards for delivering vehicle retrofitment.

Railway improvement work will mean no Thameslink trains running between Bedford and Mill Hill Broadway in north London this weekend (Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May), while East Midlands Railway (EMR) services will not run south of Bedford.

Passengers are reminded that railway improvement work at Swinton in Rotherham will affect journeys over the next two weekends (9-10 and 16-17 May).
