The quick actions of a Greater Anglia railway worker prevented a distressed man from taking his life at a level crossing in Hythe in July last year and now he is supporting a new campaign that encourages others to look out for fellow passengers.

Video footage has captured the removal of an old railway bridge as part of Network Rail’s £170m Lee Valley Rail programme to build a new track between Stratford and Angel Road stations. Due to be completed in 2019, the project will enable two extra trains per hour and help to boost regeneration in the boroughs of Haringey and Enfield.  

The Southend Victoria line reopens tonight, (Friday 3 November) over a month ahead of schedule, following completion of the first phase of work to upgrade the overhead wiring system as part of a £46m programme to reduce delays and improve reliability on this part of the railway.

Work to install new track at Kelvedon, Essex was completed this weekend and will make services from Norwich to London more reliable for the millions of people that travel on the route every year.

Network Rail has reached a major milestone in the Gospel Oak to Barking electrification project with over half of the new electrical wire needed on the line now installed. Winter closure dates to upgrade the last diesel operated London Overground route have also been confirmed today.

Students from Moulsham High School in Chelmsford interviewed Network Rail’s safety Manager on the school’s radio station yesterday (Monday 9 October) in a unique educational safety session.
