A new audible warning system, alerting pedestrians and cyclists of approaching trains has made nine footpath level crossings in Norfolk and Suffolk safer.  Network Rail began rolling out the system at 18 level crossings across the Anglia region at the beginning of the year, making the railway safer and more reliable as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan.

Passengers travelling to Corby on the Midland Mainline this morning (Monday 19 June) are urged to check before they travel owing to overrunning engineering works.

A level crossing in Tottenham will be closed next month and replaced with an accessible footbridge as part of works to significantly upgrade the railway network in the area. Residents can find out more about the plans at information events starting next week (19 June).

Passengers are advised that work will start at Tottenham Hale station in early May and a level crossing near Northumberland Park station will be closed and replaced with a footbridge in July as part of works to add a third track between Stratford and Angel Road.

New gates have been installed at a pedestrian level crossing at Halesworth station, Suffolk to make the crossing safer as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

Passengers at Hackney Wick station will be able to get to their trains more quickly and more easily when the new station is completed next year, following the installation of a pedestrian subway during the Easter weekend.
