Passengers travelling on the West Coast Main Line between Birmingham and London are being urged to check their journeys on Tuesday due to disruption caused by a landslip near Rugby.

Network Rail is reminding customers to plan ahead and allow plenty of time as buses replace South Western Railway (SWR), Great Western Railway (GWR) and Southern trains between Southampton Central and Havant, Eastleigh and Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour this February half term – starting tomorrow (Monday 12 February).

Work to build the first station in Ashley Down in 60 years has hit a “critical milestone”, according to regional Mayor Dan Norris. Funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, ‘Ashley Down Station’ is being built on the site of the previous Ashley Hill station which closed in 1964 due to the Beeching Cuts.

All of Birmingham New Street platforms are open to passengers after rail engineers completed a 12-month project to upgrade the station’s concrete roof.

Passengers are being advised about changes to weekend trains between Birmingham New Street and Coleshill Parkway while major HS2 work takes place in the Nechells area of Birmingham.
