This morning (Monday 31 July), representatives from Network Rail and train operator GWR joined the Secretary of State for Transport, the Mayor of Bristol and the Mayor of the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) to open Bristol’s first new railway station in 96 years.

Rail passengers are being reminded of major railway upgrades which will impact journeys between Aylesbury, Princes Risborough and Amersham from next week (Monday 7 August).

A ‘bee bank’ has been installed next to a repaired ‘sink hole’ in Ayrshire as part of efforts to enhance biodiversity on and near the railway.

Network Rail has submitted an application for listed building consent for a new bridge to make Pitlochry station fully accessible for passengers. 

Progress continues at Port Glasgow station where a 90-tonne steel structure was craned in last weekend.

Network Rail’s Scotland Earthwork and Drainage Framework scooped ‘UK Geotechnical Team of the Year’ at the 2023 Ground Engineering Awards in London.

Network Rail and its contractor, AmcoGiffen, will begin working round the clock on the Severn Estuary line to improve resilience from Monday 31 July to Friday 18 August.
