The vital stretch of railway which connects Devon and Cornwall with the rest of the country is now better protected from rising sea levels and extreme weather as Network Rail has built the first section of the new sea wall in Dawlish.

Passengers at London Paddington are now benefitting from quicker and safer travel through the station after Network Rail opened a new entrance/ exit this week as part of their commitment to keep passengers travelling safely.  

Patients in the south west will get seen sooner thanks to the help of 60 Network Rail workers who helped transform a DIY store in Exeter into a new Nightingale Hospital.

The toilets at Reading station have reopened to the public today (6 July), following a £380,000 major refurbishment of the facilities, during the recent lockdown.

Rail passengers are set to see the historic Bristol Temple Meads brought back to its former glory with a huge restoration programme getting underway this summer.   

Network Rail has submitted plans to Teignbridge District Council for the remainder of the new £80m Dawlish sea wall which will help protect the vital rail artery to the south west from rising sea levels and extreme weather for the next 100 years.

Rail passengers are reminded that from today (15 June) it is mandatory to wear a face covering on public transport in England, as Network Rail implements increased safety measures at major stations in the Western route, including London Paddington, Reading and Bristol Temple Meads.
