Passengers in Cornwall will benefit from a more reliable railway as Network Rail is set to deliver the biggest track upgrade in the county for over 60 years.

Rail passengers across Bristol and the south west are being encouraged to check before they travel this Christmas and book their tickets in advance where possible.

New figures released by Network Rail reveal a bridge in Bath was the 18^th most-struck bridge in the UK over the past year.

Network Rail work to renew the track between Bourne End and Marlow will see the railway close for a two-week period from this weekend.  

Network Rail has started work on the second section of the new, bigger sea wall at Dawlish, in Devon, which will provide greater protection to the railway and town from rising sea levels and extreme weather for generations to come.

Network Rail will be extending the platforms at St James Park and Lympstone Commando as well as improving track between Exeter and Exmouth over half term week 25 – 30 October

Plans to improve resilience along a vital 1.8km stretch of railway in the south west will be refined by Network Rail following substantial feedback from the community, passengers and businesses.
