Network Rail is holding a series of community drop-in sessions this autumn to update residents and the local community on its ongoing work to improve resilience of the railway between Dawlish and Teignmouth in Devon.

Passengers in Bristol are to benefit from more seats, quicker journey times and more frequent trains from next year, as Network Rail makes progress on the delivery of electrification to Bristol Parkway.

Motorists cause numerous delays to passengers owing to the misuse of level crossings, with over 2,000 incidents each year, as highlighted in this week’s episode of Paddington Station 24/7.

Network Rail is urging people with an interest in engineering to apply for its Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme, starting in March 2019.

As part of Network Rail’s and Arriva Trains Wales’ joint plan to keep passengers moving this autumn, Network Rail’s fleet of specialist ‘railhead treatment’ trains are out in force across the Wales and Borders network.

The second series of behind the scenes documentary Paddington Station 24/7 continues on Monday 8 October, with engineers working against the clock to fix a vital piece of electrification equipment near Maidenhead which is causing disruptions across the network.

Members of the public are invited to attend an open day at Colthrop level crossing near Thatcham in Berkshire on Wednesday 10 October between 10am and 3pm, where they will be able to meet railway workers from across the industry, including the team who work at the crossing and signal box, as part of Rail Week.

Network Rail Wales and Borders and British Transport Police are urging drivers to understand the risks at level crossings after new research reveals over a third of drivers in Wales and Borders have never been taught how to use a level crossing, (34 per cent), leaving them more likely to be unaware of the dangers and more likely to take risks.
