The Transpennine Route Upgrade is on track to better, more reliable journeys after Network Rail delivered improvements over Christmas and New Year between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York.

• With RMT strikes planned on Christmas Eve, trains will stop much earlier than usual
• Passengers should only take the train if it’s absolutely necessary, expect disruption and travel the day before wherever they can
• Services will start much later than usual on 27 December

The 132-year-old canopy at the main entrance of Knaresborough station has been repaired and restored to keep it looking its best for future generations. 

Over 30 miles of train-powering electric wires are now in place to help deliver cleaner, greener journeys in the future as part of the multi-billion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade.
