Network Rail has slammed the dangerous and reckless behaviour of some level crossing users in Scarborough following a near miss and two shocking deliberate misuse incidents in the last six months.

Network Rail is inviting residents in Kettering to join an online information event to find out more about work taking place on the town’s railway over the next month.

Network Rail is reminding passengers to check before they travel ahead of planned engineering works at Leeds station this Saturday and Sunday which will mean buses are used to ensure passengers can still get to where they need to go.  

Network Rail is warning people to use level crossings safely, after a driver went through the red lights and hit a barrier in Cottingham yesterday morning. (Thursday 22 October)

Network Rail and train operators on the East Coast Main Line are urging passengers not to travel to or from London on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November, and for a six-day period over Christmas, as essential work continues on the East Coast Upgrade.

• Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November – there will be no services to or from London King’s Cross, Moorgate or to or from St Pancras International via Finsbury Park
• Reduced service in and out of London King’s Cross either side of this main weekend; on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November, and on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November

A former Network Rail Operations Manager, based in York, has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for coming out of retirement to help train reserve signallers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Scottish Power cable has fallen onto the overhead lines which power electric rail services at Scremerston on the East Coast Main Line.
