New defibrillators installed at stations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire
Lifesaving defibrillators have now been installed at six railway stations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Major improvements on scenic Esk Valley line as Network Rail upgrades 1940’s track
Network Rail is upgrading sections of track on the Esk Valley line, which date back to the 1940’s, to bring smoother journeys for passengers travelling between Middlesbrough and Whitby.

Major upgrade for railway in the North East as huge signal revamp continues
- Biggest signalling upgrade since the Durham Coast line was created in early 1900s
- Passengers in the North East will benefit from a better, more reliable train service
- Level crossings will also be enhanced for better performance
- No trains between Middlesbrough and Hartlepool over the next two weekends – passengers who must travel urged to check their journey in advance

Major step forward for rail in the North
- Rail improvements announced for Greater Manchester as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) boost to Northern economy
- Improvements require 16-day railway closure in August between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale/Stalybridge stations
- Rail leaders commit to keep passengers moving between Leeds and Manchester by train
- Replacements buses will be in operation on the Calder Valley line between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria stations

No trains into London south of Potters Bar and Gordon Hill this weekend as work ramps up on the East Coast Upgrade
- Major improvement work means there are no trains to/from King’s Cross this weekend (Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 January)
- Buses also replace trains between Peterborough and Hitchin this weekend
- People must follow the latest Government guidance and only travel for limited reasons
- Further changes to services ahead of partial closure at King’s Cross between March and June

Big Push – Network Rail installs 11,000 tonne railway tunnel in UK first
An 11,000 tonne curved concrete box has been successfully pushed under the East Coast Main Line near Peterborough, in a first for UK engineering.
