Greater Anglia passengers using the Wherry lines between Norwich and Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft in February 2020 are reminded to check before travelling as significant works will be taking place over 23 days to introduce a new computer-controlled signalling system.

The vast majority of our rail network in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and East London will be open as usual for passengers to travel over the Christmas and New Year holidays.  

Essential maintenance work is taking place on the railway between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds during the weekend of 7th and 8th December so no train services will run between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds.

A day to celebrate the country’s 2,563 railway stations in being used to showcase the improvements at the third busiest station, London Liverpool Street.

Teaching young people how to stay safe on the railway has been given a boost with a partnership between Network Rail and Southend United Community & Educational Trust (CET), the official charity of Southend United Football Club, to kick out trespassing on the tracks.

There is some ‘re-leaf’ for passengers, as trains designed to blast leaves off the line are just one of a number of measures to keep passengers moving this autumn.

Over six people a month are putting their lives at risk by walking across the tracks at a level crossing in Grays.

Work will start next month at key locations on the Fen Line between King’s Lynn and Cambridge to improve services for passengers.
