Passengers will start to see a benefit from the investment being made to introduce eight-car services on the Fen line between Cambridge and King’s Lynn.  

Following good progress by engineers over the weekend, despite Storm Dennis, services on the Gospel Oak to Barking line are expected to resume on Wednesday 19 February.

Over 130 years of signalling history came to an end today on the Wherry lines with the reopening of the Norwich to Yarmouth line following completion of work to introduce a new computerised signalling system, improving reliability of train services. A section of the East Suffolk line from Beccles to Lowestoft also reopened today. 

Work on the Gospel Oak to Barking line is progressing really well and the date for reopening the line will be confirmed next week.

Work to repair the damage caused by a derailed freight wagon on the Gospel Oak to Barking line (on Thursday 23 January) is progressing well and the timescale for completion of the work is expected to be confirmed next week.

With gusts of around 70mph forecast across the region, Network Rail and train operators are preparing for the impact of Storm Ciara this Sunday with speed restrictions and some reduced services expected. 

Important rail upgrades and maintenance work will be carried out on the main line between Ipswich and Chelmsford on Sunday 9 February which will improve reliability of rail services in the region.
