Work to improve journeys for passengers by upgrading the overhead wires between Shenfield and Southend Victoria resumes this weekend until the end of March 2020.

Passengers will benefit from improved journeys following major upgrades to the region’s rail network over the August bank holiday, as all of the projects across Anglia were delivered on time. 

Working with Colchester United Football Club, Network Rail is encouraging young people to kick the habit of trespassing on the railway, particularly with the late summer bank holiday this weekend.

Passengers in Norfolk will benefit from a significant upgrade in reliability and safety when a digitally-enabled signalling system goes live after the Wherry lines close for planned engineering works during February 2020.

Passengers are reminded that the majority of the network will be open over the busy August bank holiday (Saturday 24 to Monday 26 August) however, some lines will be closed for essential engineering works.

Three events are being held to give local communities in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk the chance to learn more about the work that starts this autumn to lengthen trains between King’s Lynn and Cambridge.
