A package of track, bridge and station works will take place from January to June 2022 to reduce delays and improve reliability of rail services for passengers travelling between London and Cambridge, Stansted and Kings Lynn. 

Passenger and freight journeys will be more reliable following a programme of upgrades and maintenance across Anglia’s railway over Christmas and New Year.  

Network Rail will carry out a package of improvements, maintenance and upgrades to benefit Anglia’s railways to drive down delays and improve reliability for passengers while the majority of the network will remain open for business as usual.

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mayor Dr Nik Johnson officially opened the new railway station at Soham today to the delight of the community as the first trains rolled into the new platform, five months ahead of the original timetable.  

Track renewals are planned from early 2022 to reduce delays and improve reliability of rail services for passengers travelling between London and Cambridge, Stansted and Kings Lynn.

Network Rail has completed essential track and maintenance works between Marks Tey and Chelmsford on the busy London to Norwich main line.

More than 1,600 bridges were hit over the year, with the most bashed - Coddenham Road bridge in Suffolk - struck 19 times and one of three most hit in the top ten in the Anglia region.
