Passengers are advised to check before they travel this August Bank Holiday as Network Rail is set to carry out track, signalling and overhead wire works to improve Anglia’s rail network.

Vital track and signalling upgrades are planned at weekends throughout August and September to improve reliability and drive down delays.

A package of rail works to reduce delays and improve reliability of rail services for passengers travelling between London, Enfield Town and Cambridge has been completed.

Vital rail upgrades are to be carried out at the end of July to extend platforms for new trains and provide power for the Elizabeth Line ahead of the next stage of opening when services from Shenfield will be connected to Paddington station via the City of London and the West End.

The Secretary of State for Transport has granted Network Rail the power to close or modify 37 crossings as part of wider plans across Anglia to reduce risk and create a safer, more reliable railway.

Works to repair a footbridge that connects Durham Road in Langdon and Mandeville Way in Laindon Hills, Basildon, start today (Monday 23 May).
