The railway between London Euston and Milton Keynes has reopened for passengers and freight today after major upgrades over Easter.

Residents of Oxford are reminded that as part of Network Rail’s £161million station and railway upgrade, Botley Road will be temporarily closed near Oxford station from 11 April until the end of October to enable station and track improvements and highways redevelopment.

Network Rail will be carrying out tree and vegetation management along a 9-mile stretch of the West Coast Mainline between Gretna and Lockerbie.

This reminder comes ahead of the Easter weekend following a 200% rise in dog walker incidents on level crossings in the past year 

Network Rail’s bridge replacement project in Broxbourne is moving closer to completion.

Engineers from Network Rail and contractors, AmcoGiffen, completed lifting a fifteen-piece footbridge using a mobile 230-tonne-crane at Llanhilleth, South Wales, last week.  

Update May 2023. Following feedback outlining some concerns from the local community regarding the approach set out in the mural project competition, we have taken the decision to end this competition at this time and carry out a review of the project as a whole to address these concerns and ensure we get the right outcome for everyone. We will therefore end this process while the review takes place and will look at re-launching the competition later on in the year.
