Network Rail will be delivering a multi-million-pound programme of maintenance and renewal work on the West Coast Mainline over 10 weekends between April and June this year.

• Updated proposals published for changes to the rail line in south Devon which needs to be better protected from cliff falls, land slips and damage caused by extreme weather
• Public consultation now open until 1 March for local communities across the south west to help shape the final design of the scheme
• Six-week consultation includes details of the plans to realign the railway to make room for corrective measures to stabilise the cliffs
• The updated plans mean most of the beach is retained with improved leisure access and amenities including new, fully accessible coastal walking routes

A well-used railway footbridge near Mossley Hill station in Liverpool is being fully refurbished from next month.

Network Rail has added another consultation event in Teignmouth, Devon, as they prepare to share their updated plans to protect a section of railway in south Devon that is bordered by steep cliffs on one side and the sea on the other.

Passengers were thanked today for their patience and advised to check before they travel after emergency repairs to overhead lines on the West Coast main line.

Network Rail is to carry out upgrades between Castle Cary and Weymouth over a series of weekends this spring to provide passengers with a more reliable railway and faster journeys.

Passengers travelling between Lancaster and Oxenholme on the West Coast main line are being advised to check before they travel because of damaged overhead power lines.

Network Rail and Transport for Wales are reminding passengers that buses will replace trains between Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock from Monday 20 January to Friday 7 February 2020 (inclusive), as essential planned work is carried out.
