As cable theft reaches a five year high, thieves are warned they’re putting their lives at risk
The theft of railway cables caused over 10,000 minutes of delays to passengers across Wales and Borders in 2017 - a 240% increase on the previous year.
Electrification to Didcot delivered allowing new trains with more seats to come into service
Passengers in Berkshire and Oxfordshire will benefit from more seats and better journeys as Network Rail delivered electrification to Didcot on December 27 as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan.
Passengers urged to plan their journeys ahead of bumper Christmas upgrade
- Network Rail will be investing £160m in improving and upgrading the rail network over the Christmas period including largest ever signal data upgrade at Paddington.
- Passengers travelling from the west are advised to plan ahead as upgrade work means Paddington will have no train services running between December 24 and 27 inclusive (London underground services are unaffected)
- A reduced service to and from London Paddington will then be in operation from 28 December to 1 January inclusive
