Welsh school children have been given life-saving lessons in rail safety while taking part in a football tournament.

Passengers travelling to London via Paddington station on Monday are urged to check before they travel as the Circle and Hammersmith and City Lines are part suspended owing to the recent the tragic fire at the Grenfell tower.

• Upgrade will allow line between Chippenham and Swindon to be ready for new Intercity Express Trains which arrive later this year

• Upgraded drainage will help make services more reliable

• To allow the work to be completed the line will be closed for nine days

• Buses will replace trains between Chippenham and Swindon stations

Residents living in Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire are invited to find out more about a crucial upgrade of the Great Western mainline.

Electrification on the Great Western mainline has moved a step closer after Network Rail successfully upgraded the railway in Swindon and Royal Wootton Bassett over the weekend as part of their Railway Upgrade Plan.

Network Rail will be upgrading Onibury level crossing on the A49 to make it more robust and reduce future disruption to road and rail users. The community around the crossing is invited to find out more about this work.

With 200,000 football fans set to flock to Cardiff for the UEFA Champions League Finals and Festival from 1-4 June, and 60,000 train journeys expected to be made into Cardiff on Saturday 3 June alone, passengers travelling by rail are urged to plan ahead.

Fans of the famous Flying Scotsman are being urged to keep off the tracks when the steam engine travels through Wales this week.
