The number of young people taking risks on the railway track has doubled Wales and Borders since 2014¹.  Across the UK, in the last 12 months alone, seven young people under the age of 18 have lost their lives and a further 48 people have received life changing injuries.

Network Rail will begin refurbishing Caerleon Road railway bridge in Newport this Friday (20 July) as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan.

Engineers have completed the reconstruction of Splott Road bridge in Cardiff, as work to modernise the South Wales Mainline continues.  The bridge, which connects Adamstown with Splott, was rebuilt in two phases to help maintain traffic flow and pedestrian access - minimising disruption to the local community.

Network Rail’s Wales and Borders level crossing and maintenance teams have joined forces to build a model footpath crossing, helping them to deliver school safety sessions. The innovative teaching tool aims to provide young people with an enhanced understanding of how to use footpath crossings safely, by replicating the conditions of a working level crossing.
