Passengers in North Wales are benefitting from a newly commissioned, state of the art signalling system between Shotton and Colwyn Bay which came in to use today (Monday 26 March), as part of £50m North Wales railway upgrade project.

Green Lane road bridge reopened to motorists yesterday, Wednesday 21 March, as work continues to modernise the railway between London and Cardiff. 

The weekend of 24-25 March marks a milestone in the £50m North Wales railway upgrade project, when a state of the art signalling system between Shotton and Colwyn Bay will come into use for the first time.

Network Rail is seeking to recruit seven engineers of the future from Wales and Borders to join its hugely successful apprentice scheme from September this year.

Engineers have completed the demolition of Splott Road bridge as work to modernise the South Wales Mainline continues.

Network Rail in Wales and Borders has announced its five-year spending proposals to improve the railway at a local level, benefitting as many passengers as possible.

Network Rail is carrying out improvement work to the Cambrian Line, between Newtown and Aberystwyth, as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan. The £7.25m project will see 6km of track renewed over a period of 8 weeks.

Passengers are being urged to check before they travel ahead of essential modernisation work between Cardiff and Newport this February.
