The railway line at Bromsgrove reopened today (7 November) after Network Rail completed a £100m upgrade to track and signalling through the area ahead of schedule.

Network Rail and London Midland are reminding passengers that the line between Birmingham and Cheltenham will be closed this weekend (4-7 November) as the £100m project to upgrade the line at Bromsgrove reaches a critical milestone.

Network Rail engineers are continuing to repair a railway bridge near Leamington Spa.

A new exit which provides direct access from platforms to the city centre has opened at Birmingham New Street station.

• To allow the work to be completed the line will be closed for 12 days
• Buses will replace trains serving Bromsgrove station
• Trains between Birmingham, Hereford, south Wales and the South West will be subject to an amended timetable

Work to provide a better railway across the north of England will continue this Christmas – but will mean changes to train services from the end of October while the benefits are delivered.
