Heavy snow in North Yorkshire didn’t stop Network Rail teams upgrading the track on the Esk Valley line, which dates back to the mid-1940’s.

As more wintry weather is forecast across West Yorkshire over the next few days, who Elsa than Network Rail’s teams are working to keep vital train services moving for passengers making essential journeys.

Lifesaving defibrillators have now been installed at six railway stations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. 

A popular footpath which runs between Hessle and North Ferriby has reopened following the completion of major work to protect a nearby railway embankment from coastal erosion.

Network Rail is upgrading sections of track on the Esk Valley line, which date back to the 1940’s, to bring smoother journeys for passengers travelling between Middlesbrough and Whitby.

Network Rail has reopened the lines at Rotherham Central this morning (Friday 22 January) after heavy rain flooded the tracks.
