Passengers travelling through Sheffield railway station are facing major disruption this morning after a freight train derailed overnight.

Network Rail has slammed the dangerous and reckless behaviour of some level crossing users in Scarborough following a near miss and two shocking deliberate misuse incidents in the last six months.

Network Rail is reminding passengers to check before they travel ahead of planned engineering works at Leeds station this Saturday and Sunday which will mean buses are used to ensure passengers can still get to where they need to go.  

Network Rail is warning people to use level crossings safely, after a driver went through the red lights and hit a barrier in Cottingham yesterday morning. (Thursday 22 October)

Multi-million pound bridge upgrades are taking place on the Settle to Carlisle line in North Yorkshire from this weekend to make the railway more reliable for passengers and freight.

Passengers in the Calder Valley are being urged to check before they travel from this weekend when essential maintenance starts on an 180-year-old viaduct designed by railway pioneer George Stephenson.

Network Rail has worked with the charity Railway Children to install artwork at Leeds station ahead of World Homelessness Day on Saturday 10 October.

Network Rail is starting work this month on a £3.7million project to upgrade the railway bridge at Doncaster Road in Crofton.
