From Saturday 4 to Monday 6 May customers are asked to check before travelling as planned upgrades and routine maintenance to the railway take place across Kent, Sussex and south east London.

Network Rail’s planned repairs to Kingsferry Bridge this summer have been rescheduled to avoid a clash with school exams taking place in mid-June and a bike ride involving thousands of cyclists that is set to cross the bridge on Saturday 22 June.

Two weeks today there will be a number of planned upgrades and routine maintenance to the railway and any customers intending to travel by train over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend are urged to plan ahead.

The railway between Redhill and Tonbridge will reopen for the start of service on Monday morning after Network Rail’s engineers successfully completed emergency landslip repairs at Bough Beech, near Edenbridge in Kent.

The line between Tonbridge and Redhill will be closed for at least two weeks while Network Rail undertakes urgent repairs to the embankment that carries the railway.

Southeastern customers are now able to benefit from step-free access at Petts Wood station following the completion of accessibility improvements.

From, Saturday 1 June to Sunday 10 August inclusive, the Blackheath tunnel between Blackheath and Charlton will close as Network Rail begins £10m of essential repairs to the 175-year-old Victorian-era structure. Southeastern trains which normally run through the tunnel will be diverted via other routes during the closure.

People are being warned to plan ahead as the iconic Kingsferry Bridge is set to close for two weekends and two 8-day periods this summer for emergency repairs.
