LNER and Network Rail are issuing essential travel advice to Middlesbrough FC fans travelling to Wembley this weekend as major engineering work will affect train services.

The Northern City Line (NCL), between Finsbury Park and Moorgate in the City of London, today (Tuesday 19 May) celebrates one year since its physical lineside signals were removed. 

A package of major engineering work continues on the East Coast Main Line over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (23-25 May), passengers are reminded.

Successful testing at speed has been completed of upgraded digital software on a Thameslink Class 700 unit, preparing the largest passenger fleet on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) for the introduction of in-cab digital signalling.

The project to fit equipment for digital in-cab signalling to the iconic High Speed Trains (HSTs), which form a major part of Britain’s railway story, is setting new standards for delivering vehicle retrofitment.

Trains on the East Coast Main Line travel at some of the highest speeds anywhere on Britain’s railway. New campaign No Second Chances is delivering a vital reminder of the cost of distraction at level crossings. 

Passengers are reminded that a package of major improvement work is taking place on the East Coast Main Line in May, supporting a more reliable and resilient railway.

Railway improvement work in the North East will change passenger services on Sunday 3 and bank holiday Monday 4 May.
