Work to improve access to Wymondham town centre, as well as vital maintenance to the railway, will mean six consecutive days of rail replacement from Saturday 21 – Thursday 26 October 2023.

Network Rail has awarded the second of two contracts to build the new railway station for Chelmsford’s Beaulieu development to J Murphy & Sons Ltd. This contract award was possible following a recent agreement between Network Rail and Essex County Council to complete the construction of the new station.

Major rail projects to improve the railway infrastructure in the Cambridgeshire area are planned to be carried out over the autumn months, affecting passenger services via Cambridge station on most weekends.

Network Rail has completed six consecutive days of work on the East Suffolk Line to reduce the chance of disruption to passengers in future.

During four consecutive weekends in September, engineers will be working to maintain the safety of our infrastructure between Shenfield, Southend Victoria, and Southminster. 

Much of the rail network is open over the August bank holiday to allow passengers to enjoy the best tourist destinations across Anglia, but engineering work will be taking place which may affect some rail journeys.

Network Rail will be replacing eight sets of 40-year-old points either side of Stowmarket station during the early autumn, helping to make this part of the main line fit for the future.

Network Rail will be working on the East Suffolk Line for six consecutive days later this month to keep everyone safe and reduce the chance of disruption to passengers in future.
