Investment in improving the East Suffolk line will continue this May with extensive renewals of ageing assets and vital maintenance to keep train services running reliably and safely across Suffolk.

Network Rail has finished replacing glazing panels as part of its major roof refurbishment project at Liverpool Street, bringing lighter and brighter journeys to Britain's busiest station.

Network Rail will be carrying out vital upgrades on the line between Ipswich and Norwich on some April weekends, as well as improving three level crossings for both passengers and road users.

Network Rail will be carrying out essential maintenance on the Essex Thameside line over several weekends in April and May 2026 to keep the railway safe, reliable, and comfortable for passengers.

Passengers wishing to travel across East Anglia this Easter can travel with confidence as the vast majority of the network will be open over the long bank holiday weekend. 

Passengers are being reminded to plan ahead and check before travelling as weekend engineering work in March will affect all routes and services to/from London Liverpool Street including closure of the London terminus for five weekend days.
