Emma Watson used to travel into London Liverpool Street Station every day, and now she works for Network Rail, as one of the country’s youngest station managers, managing the station. As she nears one year in the role, an unprecedented year at that, and to coincide with International Women’s Day, she shares her experience of being a female manager in a historically male-dominated rail industry.

Passengers travelling on the West Anglia Main Line between Liverpool Street, Stansted and Cambridge will benefit from more reliable journeys as work begins to replace worn track this weekend.

Network Rail’s public consultation on proposals to renew the railway’s signalling system and upgrade of seven level crossings across the Cambridge area opens today for six weeks.

Three level crossings in Woodbridge, Suffolk will be upgraded with new equipment that will make them safer starting this weekend (27 February). Access over the crossings will be maintained throughout the work.

Reliability improvements have been made on the Harwich branch line, following track renewals and maintenance carried out by Network Rail.

Network Rail will replace wheel timbers on a rail bridge that crosses the River Deben next month (March) to keep services on the East Suffolk Line running safely and reliably.
