New research from Network Rail reveals an alarming one in seven drivers report they wouldn’t wait for the barrier or gate to open at a level crossing before driving their vehicle over. In the last five years alone, six people have lost their lives in vehicles at level crossings ¹, with many more being hurt and injured.

Kerse Road in Stirling will re-open on Friday 19 October – a week earlier than anticipated -as work on the multi-million-pound project completes its most significant phase.

Network Rail will begin work to improve accessibility at Scunthorpe railway station on Monday, 8 October.

“Would you ask someone to accelerate over black ice on the roads? Leaves on the line pose the same danger on the railway, so we can’t risk the safety of passengers by driving trains at full speed when conditions are bad.”

Network Rail’s £200million investment to upgrade the railway in Derby has entered its final week.

Network Rail is carrying out a plan of action across Anglia to combat leaves on the line which can cause delays throughout the autumn months.
