Rail passengers are being warned of major disruption after Storm Jorge caused a landslip on the West Coast main line near Warrington.

Network Rail and Transport for Wales have issued the following statement and information following another weekend of extreme weather affecting the Wales and Borders route.

With heavy rain falling across Wales, the following information has been issued by Network Rail

Network Rail engineers are taking emergency action to shore up a damaged section of railway this weekend on the Uckfield line.

Platforms 13 and 14 at Manchester Piccadilly are now being treated like ‘a station within a station’ to improve peak times for passengers.

Residents, communities, businesses and rail users are being encouraged to have their say before a consultation period ends on Network Rail’s plans to protect a vital 1.8km section of railway in south Devon, which is bordered by steep cliffs and the sea.

Network Rail will be working around the clock at Lydney this weekend – Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March - to make some emergency repairs to the railway following storm damage caused by the recent extreme weather.

Network Rail will start work next month to improve Tutbury level crossing in Derbyshire, which will make sure it can continue to be used reliably for years to come.
