Rail passengers in Nottinghamshire are being urged to check before they travel this coming bank holiday weekend with engineering work set to take place on the network.

Members of the public are being invited to attend a drop-in-event to find out more about Network Rail’s work to replace Haslucks Green Road bridge in Shirley.

Network Rail is working with ecologists to carry out an extensive study into what impact the new railway upgrade between Oxford and Bedford will have on the local environment, paying particular attention to a rare species of bat known to roost in the local area.

Passengers travelling from Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex to London Liverpool Street will benefit from fewer delays and more reliable journeys from September, following installation of a new railway bridge in Norwich and new track at Mile End during the August bank holiday weekend. Crossrail construction work will also continue along the route between Shenfield and London Liverpool Street.

The railway line between Banbury, Bicester and Leamington Spa reopened today after Network Rail completed a £76m upgrade to track and signalling on the Chiltern main line.

Network Rail is inviting residents in the Wirral to an information event to find out more about upcoming work to manage vegetation near the railway to keep rail passengers and staff safe.

Over 40 volunteers from the Thameslink Programme, part of Network Rail, joined local community partners to transform disused space into a space for young people to socialise and undertake activities that will increase their skills and confidence.
