A spectacular new mural welcoming people to the Ladywell area of Lewisham has been completed on Friday (31 March) thanks to a partnership involving Network Rail, Lewisham Council and local residents.

The Tram Train project in South Yorkshire will take a significant step towards completion in the coming weeks as construction work continues.

Timetable overhaul to potentially free-up thousands of slots for passenger services

A massive timetable shakeup is being implemented after Britain’s rail freight industry collaborated over a two-year, industry-wide review into more efficient freight operations. Together, Network Rail and freight operators identified 50 per cent of the reserved slots on the railway for freight trains were not being used and could potentially be given up for thousands of new passenger and freight services. 

Network Rail has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport for a Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) to close or modify 61 level crossings across Essex, Hertfordshire, Havering, Southend and Thurrock.

Network Rail is inviting North Wales residents to a drop-in event to learn more about how Tyn Y Morfa level crossing, near Prestatyn, will be modernised as part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan. 

A major programme of work to modernise the Great Western Mainline this Easter will see platforms at Bath Spa station widened in preparation for longer trains providing over a fifth more seats for passengers.

As part of Glasgow Queen Street station’s redevelopment, work will begin next week on a project to prepare for the extension of platform 1.
