A railway bridge which carries the East Coast Main Line through Huntingdon is set for the final phase of improvements as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

Greater Manchester’s elected leaders have repeated their support for vital improvements to the railway as work on the city’s Ordsall Chord progresses.

Network Rail has confirmed that the footpath level crossing at Cofton will remain closed during 2016 while a safer solution for crossing the railway on this route is found and put in place.

A major investment programme to improve journeys for passengers on the railway between London and Norwich steps up a gear in February as Network Rail’s ‘orange army’ starts 10 weekends of upgrade work.

Network Rail’s orange army will be carrying out work this summer to greatly improve reliability for passengers by tackling the almost yearly problem of flooding on the railway line that runs through Hinksey near Oxford.

Network Rail will be demolishing the second half of a railway bridge which forms part of Walsall High Street this weekend in one of the most complex moments of the Walsall to Rugeley electrification project which forms a vital part of the national Railway Upgrade Plan to bring passengers a better, more efficient railway.

Passengers using Abbey Wood station are being advised to check before travelling at weekends throughout 2016 as Network Rail continues its work to build a new station and new tracks for Crossrail. As a result of the work, the station will be closed for a number of weekends this year.
